Respite Services

Flintwood offers short term centre based and flexible respite for people with disabilities and their carers. 

How Respite can assist
Respite allows families and other unpaid care givers of people with a disability to have planned short term and time limited breaks. This supports and maintains the primary caregiver relationship and reduces the potential breakdown of formal and informal supports for a person with a disability. By focusing on individual interests, needs and goals we strive to maximise empowerment to the person and their support network.

  • Be 16 years and over
  • Have a disability, e.g. Intellectual, Physical, Sensory, ABI
  • Live with family and /or carer

  • Spending time with their peers
Locations

Castle Hill
Caters for 73 Service Users and their families in the Cumberland / Prospect area and is staffed* 24 hours per day seven days per week.
Quakers Hill (Interim House)
Caters  for 72 Service Users and their families covering the Cumberland / Prospect / Nepean areas with a purpose built house in Ropes Crossing will be completed in the near future.
Flexible Respite
Caters for Service Users with a carer aged 65 years or over, or the carer has looked after the Service User for more than 30 years.
Care is provided in-home or in the community.

* All staff hold a Certificate Three Community Services Disabilities. Services are rostered 24 hours per day with one staff member on an awake shift.

 
Transport

Transport to and from the Centre is the individuals responsibility. However, Transport to Day Placement, School or Work may be provided within a set (10km) radius of the service and as resources allow.
Fees

Service Fees
Service Users pay a fee of $20.00 per overnight stay

 Activity Fees
All Service Users participating in the program will be required to pay for activities undertaken (movies, swimming, bowling etc).
